Welcome home to Unity!
If
you're one of the “spiritual but not religious” people
who questions your childhood faith or is looking for something more,
this Web site may feel like a homecoming.
You may be one of the
millions of people who have embarked on their own spiritual path.
If so, you have just discovered a whole community of people like
yourself. It is Unity – a spiritual movement that honors all
paths to God; sees God as good and everywhere present; and affirms
the spark of Divinity in all of us. Unity also offers a positive,
practical, progressive approach to Christianity, regarding Jesus
as the great example rather than the great exception. Unity interprets
the Bible metaphysically rather than literally. Have you ever imagined
that the Bible could be the story of your own life? It is just one
of the tools available for powerful personal transformation. Join
us here on this website or at our church for services, classes events
and fellowship. We will be glad you did! Welcome home~
Whether
you are visiting us only through this website, have attended
our weekend celebration service, or discovered us through our classes
or workshops, we welcome you here. Wherever you are on your spiritual
journey, we will meet you there. We honor all paths to God, as we
know we are all unique expressions of God in our world. We respect
the truth wherever it is found, following specifically the truth
teachings of Jesus Christ, our teacher and way-shower. If you are
new to us please read on to learn more about Unity, our church and
our beliefs.
Some of
Our Activities:
Electronic Recycling
Day - Sunday, June 28, 2009
On this ONE DAY ONLY,
bring any electronic items or parts to the church. In Wrigley Hall
there will be tables and space to put your items. This includes:
TVs, tape players, any video machines, phone machines, computers,
monitors, etc. Please do not bring any large or small household
appliances. This company takes these items apart and recycles all
the electronic components. Very little goes into the trash. Now
is the time to release those unwanted or unneeded items. There will
be volunteers to help you unload your things. For more info, call
Peggy at 619-223-3634. This is provided as a service to our church
families.
Special Summer Wednesday
Nights!
Deep Silence
Meditation
Wednesday, August 12th, at 7:00 p.m. in Saint Luke’s
Charles and Myrtle Fillmore
encouraged the followers to practice “The Silence,”
or deep meditation. In our busy lives, we so often do not take time
to be still and to be silent. Rev. Blair will lead this deep experience
in practicing the presence of God.
Drumming Circle
Wednesday, August 19th, at 7:00 p.m. at the church
Drumming is an ancient
way to tune a group to a deeper sense of life and energy. All skill
levels are welcome, even beginners. If you have a drum, bring it.
Rev. Blair has an extensive collection of percussion instruments
and
the church has several hand drums as well. Love Offering.
Spiritual Dancing
Wednesday, August 26th, at 7:00 p.m. at the church
Sufi dancing is a celebrational
way to pray and experience the presence of God. Rev. Blair has 30
years of experience leading the dancing. This is open to people
of all ages. Come join the music and movement. Love Offering.
Ice Cream Social
Some old-fashioned fun
is on tap at an ice cream social in Wrigley Hall on Sunday, August
9th, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Cool off with in an ice cream
cone, sundae or root beer float and you’ll be helping the
Angels in the Wings raise money for our church family. Don't miss
it!
The Shift - starring
Dr. Wayne Dyer
On Sunday, Aug. 16th,
this movie will be shown here at CCU. It will be starting at 1:00PM
for a love offering. In this compelling film, Dr Wayne Dyer explores
the spiritual journey from ambition to meaning. The powerful shift
from the ego constructs that we’re taught early in life by
parents and society – which promote achievement and accumulation
– are shown in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving
and giving back. This is an entertaining film that also inspires
and teaches us how to create a life of meaning and purpose. Rev.
Blair will allow time for discussion after the film which is 2 hours
long. Sign up in the tower lobby if you plan to attend.
Padres Game – August 22nd
CCU may still have tickets
available for this Saturday night game that starts at 7:05 p.m.
against the St. Louis Cardinals. Tickets are in the Field section
118. The tickets are $22.00 for regularly priced $43.00 tickets.

2nd. A tailgate potluck will be held in the tailgate parking lot
- information will be available when you pick up your tickets.
