How big is your embrace? Are you nice to those who are nice to you? Can you choose to be nice to those who are not nice to you? Not because you want them to act better, but because your choice empowers you to live your Truth no matter what someone else is doing.
Everyone in this human experience is doing the best they can in the moment. Some folks are so wounded by life (the wounds may not be visible), that they live only trying to get enough for themselves. Our job is to love them anyway and to make the best attempt to help get their needs and our needs met.
One of my favorite poems is:
Outwitted by Edwin Markham
He drew a circle that shut me out
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But Love and I had wit to win:
We drew a circle that took him in.
Let God through you make your circle, your embrace, as infinite as divine love.
