Community
Outreach .........
Christ
Church Unity is proud of their community outreach and strives
to help those within the church community, as well as those in
our surrounding community. Our bookstore has numerous books and
other items that focus on spirituality and personal growth.
Turkeys, Blankets & Food Drive for Western Service Workers
Western Service Worker’s Association needs your donations of dried rice and beans, peanut butter and canned meats, new or gently used blankets, as well as donations of money for turkeys during the month of November. Please bring items to Wrigley Hall. This all-volunteer association is comprised of families who may have two or three jobs in restaurants and hotels in order to meet their needs. In winter, increased utility bills can cause a decrease in food budgets. Often heat is not used in their homes because of the expense. Our donations can help many. Thank you for your numerous donations in past months. For more information, please call Aline King at 619-280-2501, ext. 133.
Colina del Sol Park Thanks CCU Volunteers
Once again six volunteers from CCU assisted Colina del Sol Park on 54th Street at their annual Halloween Carnival. Over 100 children participated in games and a costume contest. Our volunteers had a grand time assisting and enjoying the fun. Check with Aline King at 619-280-2501, ext. 133, if you would like to join us in the spring for the egg hunt and other activities. Fingerprinting with the City of San Diego and a liking for fun with kids are the only requirements!
CCU’s Participation in the
Interfaith Shelter Network 2012
Since we did not get the dates we requested in late Jan to Feb 2012, CCU will act as a support church in this next shelter season. This means we will fill in as needed if other church organizers, especially in small Congregations, call us for assistance. Areas of support can range from sleeping over, cooking some meals, or sharing some supplies. We are also asking for donations toward 2 cots at the cost of $90.00 each. These will provide emergency back-up cots in case of breakage. If you are available to assist, please let Aline King know. She is often in Wrigley Hall after services. Messages can be left at 619-280-2501, ext. 133.

Entertainment Books 2012
The new books are ready for purchase. They contain discounts for restaurants, entertainment (movies), services and travel. The price remains at $40! Stop by the table in Wrigley Hall to preview this year’s edition. Ask your family & friends to purchase from you and raise extra funds for Christ Church Unity.
Stuffed
Animals - Give the gift of snuggly love!
We continue to gather stuffed toys to be blessed and given away at Christmas-time. Please bring new stuffed toys to the sanctuary so they can soak up blessings and love until we gift them in December. Bring your donations of stuffed animals to our sanctuary and each Sunday hug a toy to bless it. We will dedicate the toys and give them away in December.
Recycling
Program
CCU recycles all year! Inkjet, laser computer cartridges, cell
phones, digital cameras, digital picture frames, laptop computers,
MP3 players, toner cartridges, and Ipods are on the list! CCU
receives money for these items, some cell phones bring up to $100!
So drop them off at the box in Wrigley Hall or the bin in the
tower lobby.
We
offer numerous groups for social and spiritual growth including Arts
and Crafts, Gals Night Out, Couples Club and Wednesday Potlucks.
In addition, we have community support meetings here such as groups
like Narcotics Anonymous and Course in Miracles. We also have
events for members such as Padre nights, a Memorial campout and
other special times we enjoy each others company.
We have formed a number of community partnerships, such as with
Head Start . We offer a recycling program to help the environment,
encourage our members to use GoodSearch search engine and have
an active Scrip program.
